Funeral services will be held at the Nelson United Methodist Church Thursday, January 23, at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Clifford Weideman will officiate. Burial will be in the Nelson Cemetery. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, January 23, 1975 ========== Cora Virginia Goodrich, the daughter of James G. Young and Sarah Catherine Koontz, was born at Burchard, Nebraska on February 19, 1897 and passed away in Webster County Hospital in Red Cloud, Nebraska on January 20, 1975 at the age of 77 years, 11 months, and 1 day. Her parents, two brothers, two sisters and one granddaughter preceded her in death. Mrs. Goodrich united with the Methodist Episcopal Church of Burchard at an early age and her membership was transferred to the First United Methodist Church of Nelson, Nebraska, in 1915 and has been a member of this church nearly sixty years. She was an associate member of the United Methodist Women of this church. On November 19, 1919 she was united in marriage to Orie Goodrich at Nelson, Nebraska. Seven children were born to this union namely: Geraldine Busboom of Fairfield, Nebraska; Ralph Goodrich of Omaha, Nebraska; Lloyd Goodrich of Las Vegas, Nevada; Barbara Coon of Omaha, Nebraska; Robert Goodrich of Grand Island, Nebraska; Donald Goodrich of Grand Island, Nebraska and Shirley Swanson of Superior, Nebraska. In addition to her church affiliation Mrs. Goodrich was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and World War I Barracks Auxiliary. She was a resident of Nuckolls County for most of her life. Her occupation was that of being a good housewife and mother. In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Marie Madsen of Superior, Nebraska; 16 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and many friends. Funeral services were held from the Nelson United Methodist Church on Thursday, January 23. Pastor Clifford Weideman officiated and burial was in the Nelson Cemetery. The Klawitter Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Out of town relatives and friends attending the Goodrich funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. Roger McCauley and family of Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Frakes of Tenton; Mrs. Eleanor Ethridge of Wray, Colorado; Mr. and Mrs. Don Lahm of Lexington; Mrs. Joe Shultz and Mrs. Ella Goosic of Fairfield; Mrs. Alma Minert and Mrs. James Fowler of Milford; Mr. and Mrs. Crit Taylor of Clay Center; Mrs. Wanda Maruhn of Red Cloud; Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Henry of Guide Rock; Mrs. Wilbur Becker of Mankato, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Barry and Wilma of Formoso, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Witt of Grand Island; Mr. Donald Cox and Mr. Charles Kaufman of Omaha; Mr. John Woldruff of Holdrege and many friends from Superior, Nora, Oak, Davenport and Ruskin.
