Description	:	Orie Lester Goodrich, one of two sons of George Russell and Sarah Margaret Livingston Goodrich, was born October 15, 1893, on a farm near Edgar, Nebraska, and passed away December 29, 1982, at the Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island, Nebraska, at the age of 89 years, 2 months and 14 days. Read More	Orie Lester Goodrich, one of two sons of George Russell and Sarah Margaret Livingston Goodrich, was born October 15, 1893, on a farm near Edgar, Nebraska, and passed away December 29, 1982, at the Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island, Nebraska, at the age of 89 years, 2 months and 14 days. November 19, 1919, Orie was united in marriage to Cora Virginia Young at Nelson, Nebraska. To this union seven children were born. Orie has lived his entire life in Nuckolls County until moving to the Veterans Home in September of 1976. He farmed until later working as a road grader for the Nuckolls County Road Department until his retirement. He was a member of the Nuckolls County World War I Barracks and the Fairfield American Legion. He greatly enjoyed working with his garden and fishing. He spent many happy hours with his woodworking hobby. His pictures made out of wood blocks was a hobby which he and his family took great pride in. Preceding him in death were both of his parents; his wife, Cora, who died January 20, 1975; and a granddaughter, Barbara Goodrich. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Delmar (Geraldine) Busboom of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Mrs. Barbara Coon of Omaha and Mrs. Sanford (Shirley) Swanson of Superior; four sons, Ralph of Omaha, Lloyd of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Robert and Donald, both of Everett, Washington and 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Funeral service were held Friday, December 31, at the Nelson United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Samuelson officiating. Burial was in the Nelson Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ronald Goodrich, Darrell Goodrich, Mark Goodrich, Rick Swanson, Greg Brunning and Harold Hansen. "How Great Thou Art" and "In The Garden" were played by organist, Ivan Schafer.
