Paran Baptist church with the Rev. R. B. Dobbins, pastor of the church, the Rev. James P. Stokes and the Rev. Howard Johnson officiating. She died Monday at 7 p. m. at her home in the Holly Grove community after almost a year's illness. Mrs. Neal, who was 78 years old, was a native of Cherokee county, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Martin. She lived the sixty-one years of her married life in the Mt. Paran community and fifty years in the home in which she died. Through the busy days of rearing a large family and being a devoted mother and wife, she still found time to be a good neighbor and was loved by all in the community regardless of age. Of the thirteen children born to Mr. and Mrs. Neal, nine are still living. One, James E. Neal, gave his life for his country in World War I, making Mrs. Neal a Gold Star mother. She was a member of Mt. Paran Baptist church, which she attended regularly until bad health prevented. Surviving are her husband, D. Frank Neal; four sons, T. R., Guy and George, of Grover; Carl Neal, of Blacksburg; five daughters, Mrs, R. H. Hamrick, of Grover; Mrs. Myrtle Rippy, of Columbia; Mrs. R. W. Spratt, of Blacksburg; Mrs. O. M. Spratt and Mrs. E. C. Cornwell, of Greenville; one brother, Joe Martin, of Rock Hill; four sisters, Mrs. Addie Randall, Mrs. Henry Turney and Mrs. Jim Robinson, of Grover; Mrs. Luther Bridges, of Blacksburg; 19 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Lawrence Collins, Frank Collins, Frank Neal, Donald Cornwell, Edward Hamrick, James Hamrick and Harold Rippy. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Gordon-Millwood in charge of arrangements. The honorary escort included: J. G. Sapoch, Alfred Collins, R. R. Carroll, V. J. Hardin, Dr. T. A. Campbell, Sr., Thad Moss, Thad Thompson, E. C. Cornwell, O. M. Spratt, Sr., Sage Sapoch, E. E. Rippy, C. B. Moss, Dargin Martin, Jonathan Byars, J. W. Priester, Lewis Foster, Jack Cash, Forest Bolin, C. E. Byars, Lee Allen, Rex Rippy, J. B. Quinn, G. R. Hogue, O. D. Fulton, Theron White, R. D. Wylie, Alfred Collins, J. B.
