Description	:	Cornelious was born on August 27, 1927, in Glidden, Iowa, to John and Caroline (Thelen) Daiker. At the age of five, his family moved to a farm near Auburn. The family farm was his home for the majority of his life. He graduated from Auburn Public School at the end of his 8th grade year and continued his education from life itself. Read More	Cornelious was born on August 27, 1927, in Glidden, Iowa, to John and Caroline (Thelen) Daiker. At the age of five, his family moved to a farm near Auburn. The family farm was his home for the majority of his life. He graduated from Auburn Public School at the end of his 8th grade year and continued his education from life itself. He learned the value of hard work, family, and faith from his years as a farmer, truck driver, and welder. On June 1, 1950, Corny was married to Glenna Rae Finley at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Auburn. They were basically inseparable for 64 years. Added to this union were four children. Corny served his country for two years with 18 of those months stationed in Pusan, Korea as a Motor Sergeant in the A Motor Pool for the US Army. Before his discharge, he secured passage for his dog, “Spitz” who was his best friend and had saved Corny and his troops from many surprise enemy attacks. During his 48 years with the American Legion, he served many times as Commander and helped start up the Avenue of Flags. Through his involvement with the Lion’s Club, he helped with the purchase of the ball field lights. He was a decorated vet of the Korean War and taught his family patriotism. While Corny was a lifetime horseman, he also enjoyed farming fishing, hunting, bowling, camping, ballroom dancing, traveling, and playing cards with his family and friends. Corny was a collector of all things, always seeing good in everything knowing someday there would be a purpose for all his treasures. He was devoted to his church through the men’s group, making repairs, and mowing the church lawn and cemetery. His favorite memories with Glenna included the times he spent with his family and friends. Cornelious is survived by his wife, Glenna of Auburn, his four children Rodney (Kathy) Daiker of Lake City, Sharon (Loren) Pudenz of Ackley, Denise (Brent) Ulven of Clarion, and Tricia (Thomas) Anderson of Story City, 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, his sisters Coletta Mohr of Fonda, Marietta Sammons of Lidderdale, and numerous nieces and nephews all dear to him. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, Johnny, Mable, Drusilla, LeRoy, Leonard, Ethel, Ivan, Warren (Joe), and Ila Mae.
