Surviving Mr. Vanderlinden are his wife, a son, Bill Vanderlinden, Henderson; three daughters, Mrs. Heitink of Atlantic, Mrs. Bob Smith of Promise City and Mrs. Charlotte Hysell, Unionville, Missouri; 17 grandchildren, two brothers and a sister. Burial will be at Confidence. Vanderlinden was born at Pella in 1903 and had lived in Wayne County for 40 years. He had been an invalid for the past six years and recently was a patient at the Downey rest home in Seymour. Death came at the Wayne County hospital Monday evening. Survivors are his wife, Ruth; daughters, Mrs. Bob (Joan) Smith of Promise City, Mrs. G. A. (Jean) Heitink of Atlantic and Mrs. Elmer (Charlotte) Hysell of Unionville, Missouri; one son, Dr. Willard Vanderlinden of Henderson; 17 grandchildren; two brothers, Bob of Bloomfield and Leonard of Williamsburg, and one sister, Wilma Roby of Milton. Cornelius Wilford Vanderlinden was born August 31, 1903 in Pella, Iowa, the son of William J. And Margaret Vanderlinden, and passed away at the Wayne County hospital at Corydon, Iowa on May 17, 1971 at the age of 67 years, 8 months and 17 days. He was married to Ruth Beggs on December 27, 1926. To this marriage four children were born: JoAnn Smith of Promise City, Jean Heitink of Atlantic, W. L. of Henderson and Charlotte Hysell of Unionville, Missouri. 17 grandchildren survive. His parents and one sister, Margaret Meade, preceded him in death. Two brothers and one sister survive. They are Leonard W. of Williamsburg, Bob of Bloomfield and Wilma Roby of Milton. He was a member of the Sunny Slope church of Christ and a farmer until ill health 6 1/2 years ago. He was a loving husband and father and everyone was his friend. Funeral was held at the Liggetts funeral home in Seymour on May 20. Pallbearers were John Stech, John Funk, Lloyd George, Bob Harris, Walter Faulconer and Howard Vincent. Hubert Heckler of Leon conducted the service. Music was offered by Homer and Thelma Warren and Nancy Cotterill who sang "Beyond the Sunset," "Does Jesus Care" and "O Think of the Home Over There." Burial was in the Confidence Cemetery. "I am home in heaven, dear ones. Oh so happy and so bright. There is perfect joy and beauty in this everlasting light. All the pain and grief are over; ever restless tossing passed. I am now at peace forever, safely home in heaven at last. Then you must not grieve so sorely, for I love you dearly still; try to look beyond Earth's shadow; pray to trust our fathers will. There is work still waiting for you, so you must not idly stand. Do it now while life remaineth. Rest will come in Jesus' land. When that work is all completed, he will gently call you home. Oh, the rapture of that meeting. Oh, the joy to see you come"
