Description	:	WORLD WAR I VETERAN Thomas Elliott, 64, Retired Surveyor, Dies In Hospital William Thomas Elliott, 64, retired Deer Lodge surveyor, died Tuesday afternoon in the Veterans hospital at Fort Harrison. He had been ill several months. A native of the Deer Lodge Valley, Mr. Elliott was born near Race Track on Dempsey Creek May 13, 1895. He attended schools in Deer Lodge and graduated from the old College of Montana, former Deer Lodge College. As a youth he was a teamster for the Copper City Commercial. Read More	WORLD WAR I VETERAN Thomas Elliott, 64, Retired Surveyor, Dies In Hospital William Thomas Elliott, 64, retired Deer Lodge surveyor, died Tuesday afternoon in the Veterans hospital at Fort Harrison. He had been ill several months. A native of the Deer Lodge Valley, Mr. Elliott was born near Race Track on Dempsey Creek May 13, 1895. He attended schools in Deer Lodge and graduated from the old College of Montana, former Deer Lodge College. As a youth he was a teamster for the Copper City Commercial. A veteran of overseas Army service in World War 1, Mr. Elliott had been unusually active in state and local Veterans of Foreign Wars activities. He was a past commander of the local post, had been department youth officer and assistant aide-de-camp for the state and before the war was an instructor in the VFW rifle program. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jack T. Elliott of Anaconda, Army Capt. and Mrs. Kenneth A. Elliott of Tacoma, Wash., and Mr. and Mrs. James Quinn of Deer Lodge; seven grandsons and a granddaughter; sister, June Baker, Los Angeles, and several cousins in this area. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Ross Funeral Home with the Rev. J.C. Mardis officiating. Graveside services will be conducted by members of Deer Lodge and Anaconda VFW posts. The family requests contributions to the cancer fund or VFW children's home.
