Description	:	Cpl. Clarence Anderson Dies In France Cpl. Clarence Anderson, 26, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lou Anderson of near Douds, died August 24 from wounds received in battle in France. A telegram from the government was received Monday by the parents bearing the sad news. His mother had just received a letter from him written the day before his death in which he said that he was feeling fine, had not received a scratch, but he also said that you couldn't tell when you might get it. Clarence Anderson, 26, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lou Anderson of near Douds, died August 24 from wounds received in battle in France. A telegram from the government was received Monday by the parents bearing the sad news. His mother had just received a letter from him written the day before his death in which he said that he was feeling fine, had not received a scratch, but he also said that you couldn't tell when you might get it. Cpl. Anderson volunteered for service in March 1940 and with the first army, 113 Cavalry, was among the first to enter France in the invasion. He was born near Douds and attended the Douds-Leando school. For several years prior to entering the service he was employed on the E.J. Mueller farm between Douds and Birmingham. Those left to mourn their loss are his parents, four brothers, Rome and Robert Anderson of Keosauqua, Carl Anderson of Redding, Calif., and Jean Anderson of Birmingham, three sisters, Mrs. Frank Sieman of Keosauqua, Mrs. Aaron Fellows of Douds and Mrs. Rex Steele of Verdi, Nevada.
