Published in the Piscataquis (ME) Observer 26 Dec 1867 p2: "DIED---In Foxcroft, on the 22d inst., Capt. Ellis Robinson, aged 57 years." Published in the Piscataquis (ME) Observer 9 Jan 1868 p2: "OBITUARY---Died at his residence in Foxcroft, on the morning of the 23d ult. of Cancer in the stomach, Capt. Ellis Robinson, aged 57 years and 1 month. He was born in Turner, Me., Nov. 20th, 1810, his parents having removed thither when he was quite young, he resided in Foxcroft more than forty years. He was a highly respected citizen, and held important official trusts in town for several years. He was a dutiful son, a loving brother, and a very affectionate husband and father. A wife and seven children, an aged mother, and other near relatives to mourn their loss, yet not as without hope. He was the subject of deep religious convictions at the early age of ten years. At other times through his life, he was powerfully impressed to give his heart to God. He did not however, do so till a week before his death. He then obtained a clear and joyous evidence of acceptance through the Lord Jesus Christ. From this time he ardently desired to depart and be with Christ, and with dear ones who had entered the better ___ before him. Although his physical sufferings increased, he had joy unspeakable and full of glory, till he fell asleep in Jesus. His funeral service, numerously attended, was at the Baptist Church in Dover, on the afternoon of the 24th. Sermon by Rev. A. B. Pendleton, on Isaiah 28:11. 'Cease, ye mourners, cease to languish, O'er the graves of those you love; Pain and death and night and anguish, Enter not the world above.'"
