Kenneth Bressler of Grant. Mrs. Swayer died Saturday August 23, at the home of his daughter, and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Embree, southeast of Grant. Crawford Sawyer, son of Frederick and Ellezanno Sawyer, was born at Bedford, Iowa, November 8, 1885, and was 60 year old at his death. He was united in marriage on September 5, 1906 in Villisca with Edith Alice Hopkins, who preceded him in death in 1932. To them were born three daughters, Mary, Eleanor, and Rachel. In 1935, Mr. Sawyer was married to Mrs. Sadie Foster, who survives him. He leaves also his three daughters, Mrs. Clifford Embree, Villisca, Mrs. A. W. Hammerlund, St. Louis Park, Minnesota, and Mrs. S. I. Spargur, Rapid City, South Dakota; a step son, Virgil Anderson, Sacramento, California; a sister, Mrs. Eldorn Hindman, Memphis, Tenn.: a brother, Ransom, Edmondton, Alberta, Canada; 11 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. Mr. Sawyer resided all of his life in Southwest Iowa with the exception of 8 years spent in Oregon. He was employed at barbering in Shenandoah, Corning, Creston, Lenox, Bedford, New Market, Grant, and in Oregon. He was 73 years and bedfast the last 10 weeks preceding his death. He united with the Christian Church in his youth. Singing at the funeral was by Mrs. Max Nordyke, accompanied by Mrs. H. A. Eno and in charge of flowers were Mrs. Grace Nordyke and Mrs. Kittle Meyers. Pall bearers were Guy Embree, Leslie Embree, Jay Bryson, Harold Nordyke, Clifford English, and ear Marsh and interment was in the Villisca Cemetery.
