Mrs. Snyder came to Gosper county about a year before her marriage and for nearly sixty years lived on the same farm. Funeral services were conducted from the Arapahoe Christian church Sunday afternoon with Rev. H.W. Wagner in charge. Music was furnished by Mrs. Vesper Hill and Mrs. Willard Baxter, accompanied by Mrs. Madge Knott. Pallbearers were Bert Chambers of Elwood, Jack Chambers, C.P. VanDruff and Charles VanDruff of Holbrook, Wm. and A.L. Hambidge. All were nephews of Mrs. Snyder. Burial was made in the Arapahoe cemetery. Obituary- Cynthia Jane Chambers was born on a farm in Jasper county Indiana near Raenseller, April 21, 1854. When a small child she moved with the family to Newton county, near Kentland where she grew to young womanhood. In 1878 the call of the west was answered by the long trek across the prairie states by the entire family by caravan, arriving in the fall of that year in Gosper county where her future husband, J.P. Snyder had preceded her and made preparations for the home thy were soon to occupy. This marriage was consumated on January 12, 1879. They lived on the homestead continuously except for a short period of residence in Denver, Colo., celebrating their Golden wedding anniversary in 1929. She had the true pioneer spirit and was instrumental in all activities for the betterment of the home and community. Their family of six was born and reared on this homestead. Four of the children and the husband, who passed away 10 years ago, preceded her to the great beyond. She leaves to mourn her loss: two sons, Ray E. and Hervey W. Snyder; one brother, G.A. Chambers of Shenandoah, Ia.; two sisters, Mrs. L.A. VanDruff, Elwood, and Mrs. F.E. Reynolds, Lincoln; and ten grand children. Her friends are numberless.
