Read More	CRISFILD MATRON DIED LAST FRIDAY Mrs. Cynthia Sterling Buried Sunday Afternoon One of the city's well known matrons, Mrs. Cynthia L. Sterling, widow of the late Harold E. Sterling, died in the Sunset Nursing Home in Marion early Friday morning of last week. Mrs. Sterling had been in ill health for more than a year, and had passed her 50th birthday. She was born in Crisfield, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Lankford, and had lived here practically all her life. A woman of fine personality she had found her greatest happiness in her home and family, and in being a good neighbor. For most of her life she had been helpful to others, and it was never too much trouble for her to do deeds of kindness for neighbors and friends and others who needed help and comfort. She was a Christian and practiced the precepts of the Christian religion. Her faith was great, and was exemplified in her daily life. She believed in the Golden Rule and lived up to it. She will be remembered for long by many persons for her fine character and her willingness to aid in sickness and distress. She reposed at the Bradshaw Funeral Parlors, where many relatives and friends came to pay their last respects until Sunday afternoon at 3.30 o'clock, when funeral services were held in Immanuel Methodist church, conducted by Rev. Melvin E. Wheatley and Dr. J. Yancey Fincher. Interment was in Crisfield cemetery. The attendance at the funeral and the lovely floral pieces sent to honor her memory told of the affection and regard in which she was held by relatives and friends. Mrs. Sterling is survived by one son, Harold E. Sterling, Jr., and one brother, John Lankford, and two grandchildren. The Crisfield Times, March 18, 1949 pg.1
