Cyrena Beckwith was born in Washington County, N.Y., June 8, 1844; she removed with her parents to Fontlu Lac, Wis. in 1854; in the fall of 1855 she removed with her parents to Floyd county, IA; she was united in marriage to Hon. Cyrena Beckwith was born in Washington County, N.Y., June 8, 1844; she removed with her parents to Fontlu Lac, Wis. in 1854; in the fall of 1855 she removed with her parents to Floyd county, IA; she was united in marriage to Hon. John Frazee, April 28, 1868; six children were born to their union, three of whom, with the beloved husband, survive her. They are: Mrs. Glencora E. Tolle, Lenora J Weidlich and John D. Frazee; Arthur died in infancy, James J died at ten years and Susana L. died at eight years. The deceased has been a resident of the community of Bassett for forty-nine years; long enough to see many physical changes; then the windswept prairies were bleak and bare; to the strong and sturdy-hearted this broad expanse of virgin soil gave promise of rich returns--to the weak and faltering it gave promise only of unrequited labor. To the former class belonged the dear departed, who with her beloved husband, wrought from this cheerless waste the comforts of home; they freely gave of the hospitality of the frontier; they built well and strong; their family saw develop into useful, happy citizens, respected of everyone. Surely such a life is well-spent, such labors are well expended. The breaking of the ties of partnership will fall heavily upon the head of the bereft husband, who is left to finish the journey alone, but the sympathies of hosts of friends will encompass him, and the love and kind ministerings of devoted children will be his throughout life. At the request of the deceased, Rev. L. A. Dibble of Central Christ's church of Waterloo, but formerly of Bassett, was asked to officiate at the funeral. Interment was made in the Beckwith cemetery, the old parental homestead of the deceased near Niles. The Tribune extends sympathy. Mrs. John Frazee Dead Nov. 9, 1909
