Wilson Dawson, was born February 25, 1899, on a farm near Fullerton, Nebraska, and passed away January 7, 1987, in the Brodstone Memorial Hospital at Superior, Nebraska, at the age of 87 years, 10 months and 13 days. She was educated in rural schools in Nancy (sic) County, Nebraska near Fullerton. On November 17, 1918, she was married to Ernest B. Smith. This union was blessed with 4 children and 2 adopted children. She spent her life in Fullerton, Nebraska, Concordia and Hollis, Kansas, and Superior, Nebraska. She was a member of Rebekah's, past member of Hollis School Board and Parent Teachers Association. She had been a member of the Church of Christ in Superior for the past 8 years. Gardening and tending her flowers was a very important part of her life. She also enjoyed quilting, making baby quilts, wood-working with her jigsaw and liquid embroidery. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ernest, August 24, 1967; one son, Elvin Smith; one daughter, Velma Geer; one sister, Pearl Heule; and one brother, William George Dawson. She is survived by 2 sons, Ernest W. and his wife Ida Smith, and Norman L. and his wife Darlene Smith, all of Superior; her 2 adopted children, Larry L. Smith and his wife Janice of Hays, Kansas, and Gladys and her husband Don Wilson of Nelson, Nebraska; four sisters, Mrs. Elsie Broomhall and Mrs. Eva Billings, both of Caldwell, Idaho, Mrs. Florence Slack of Salinas, California, and Mrs. Ethel Thompson of Homedale, Idaho; 19 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 10, 1987, at 10:30 a.m. from the Church of Christ in Superior, Nebraska, with Pastor Ken Fairbrother officiating. Danny Jackson, soloist, sang "One Day At A Time" and "Nearer My God To Thee" with Evelyn Jackson as pianist and accompanist. Casketbearers were grandsons: Linden Smith, Dennis Smith, Darren Smith, Chad Smith, Ron Birchard, Brad Peterson, Kenneth Hummell and Bret Smith. Burial was in the Hollis Cemetery, near Hollis, Kansas at 3:30 p.m. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, January 15, 1987
