Dale Brayton was born on September 8, 1930, on the family farm near Hunter, ND to Lynn and Stella (See) Brayton. He attended school in Hunter. Dale joined the Army in 1949 serving in Korea. Dale Brayton was born on September 8, 1930, on the family farm near Hunter, ND to Lynn and Stella (See) Brayton. He attended school in Hunter. Dale joined the Army in 1949 serving in Korea. After an Honorable Discharge in 1952, he attended NDSSS in Wahpeton; upon graduation, he worked as a sheet metal worker for many years. Dale married Phyllis Jean Sorensen, also from Hunter, in 1955. They lived in Sioux Falls, SD, for a short time; then in Grand Forks where Dale worked at the Air Force Base. By spring of 1958, they had moved back to Hunter and spent the rest of their lives there. Dale was Post Master in Hunter from 1967 until 1989. After retiring from the Post Office, Dale worked for his former employer, Peterson Mechanical, and other part time positions before fully retiring in 1992. Dale was an avid hunter for many years. Dale could "fix anything" and could be found tinkering in his garage often. But mostly he enjoyed time spent with family. Dale is survived by five children, Kimberly Mitzel, Colorado Springs, CO; Brian (Susan) Brayton, Fargo, ND; Angela (Thomas) Kohler, Elk Creek, CA; Natalie Toms, Miles City, MT; Lynn (Jennifer) Brayton, Hunter, ND; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald (Jeanette) Brayton, Woodland Park, CO. and John (Karen) Brayton, Fargo, ND. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis; sister, Lois Iwen and brothers, Robert and Daniel Brayton. Prayer Service: 6:30 pm, Sunday, June 8th, 2014 at First Lutheran Church in Hunter, ND. Memorial Service: 11 am, Monday, June 9th at the First Lutheran Church in Hunter. Final Resting Place: Hunter Cemetery.
