Description	:	Funeral services for Dale Norris Urwin, of Byron, formerly of Pierce, Neb., will be at 2 p.m. Friday July 24, at Christ Lutheran Church in Pierce; officiating will be the Rev. Matthew Bahnfleth. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 23, at Stonacek Memorial Chapel, Pierce. He was born in Foster, Neb., on Jan. 21, 1923. He was raised on a family farm by his parents, Albert and Ada Urwin. He joined the Army on March 18, 1941, and was honorably discharged on June 2, 1945, after combat in the South Pacific in World War II. Dale came home with the Philippines Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star, a Good Conduct Medal, an American Defense Service Ribbon, and a Purple Heart. After his military service, he moved to Hastings, Neb., where he married Lou Gaden-Urwin and had four children, William, Linda, Dick and Wilma. He later moved to Tulsa, Okla., where he married Patty Ferguson-Urwin and had two children, Jimmy and Julie, later moving to Puyallup, Wash. After retirement he resided in Coffeyville, Kan., later Pierce, and finally Byron. He is survived by his younger sister, Marva Wragge of Pierce; children, Linda Nees of Alda, Neb., Dick Urwin of Hastings, Neb., Wilma Purdy of Gahanna, Ohio, and Julie Swank of Byron; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patty; parents; sons, William and Jimmy; brothers, Adrian, Lynn, George, and twin brother Dallas; and his sisters, Elva Fincke, Agnes (Wilda) McCrady, Abby Zierke, Erma Kendall, Lydia Flemming-Cwach and Claire Urwin.
