Read More	Dayton Review September 13, 1917 Daniel Brennaman, one of the pioneer settlers of Burnside township, passed away Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. H. Buck at Lehigh. His funeral was held at that place yesterday afternoon, and his remains brought here for interment in Dayton cemetery beside those of his wife. His daughter, Mrs. Dan Rude, of Griswold, Iowa, with her husband and two of her sons passed through here Tuesday morning in their car on their way to the funeral, and his son, Daniel Brennaman, Jr., and wife of Oakdale, Nebraska, arrived here Tuesday night, also on their way to Lehigh. His obituary will appear in our next issue. Dayton Review September 20, 1917 DANIEL BRENNEMAN PASSES Daniel Brenneman, who has been making his home with his daughter, Mrs. Chas. Buck, passed away early Monday morning after a sickness lasting several weeks. Mr. Brenneman was close to ninety years old, if he had lived until the 18th of this month he would have reached that long span of years. From the first of his sickness, his condition was considered serious on account of his advanced age. Daniel Brenneman was born in Switzerland, September 18, 1827, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Chas. Buck, September 10, 1917, at the age of 89 years, 11 months and 22 days. While quite young he came to this country and settled in the state of Missouri, where he was married to Mary Ann Bloch. He later lived in Ohio and Illinois and then came to Iowa, settling near Lehigh where he lived the greater part of the time for the last half century. During the past fifteen and a half years he has lived with his children. Mrs. Brenneman died forty-five years ago and was buried at Dayton, and the interment of Mr. Brenneman was made in the family lot there yesterday. Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Brenneman, five girls and three boys. Two of them, Louisa and Abba, preceded him to that other world. The remaining children are Mrs. Emma Rudig of Griswold, Iowa; Fred Brenneman of Avoca, Iowa; Daniel and Samuel Brenneman of Oakdale, Nebraska; Mrs. Sarah Aggson of Fort Morgan, Colorado; and Mrs. Mary Buck of Lehigh. Besides theres children he leaves thirty grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren and other relatives and friends to mourn his death. Mr. Brenneman was a man of sterling character. He was well thought of by all who knew him and he had many acquaintances and friends in this vicinity where he has lived so long. He was one of the pioneers who helped make Iowa what it is today and his demise takes another of the sound and steady men of the early day. The funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at two o'clock at the Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Hammer, and the remains were laid to rest by the side of his wife in the Dayton cemetery. The sympathy of all is extended the bereaved relatives. - Lehigh Argus
