Description	:	MOUNT AIRY, NC ~ Mr. Daniel Curtis Sechrest, age 97, of Mount Airy, originally from Pilot Mountain, NC, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. He was born in Stokes County on June 21, 1911 to the late Killian and Savannah Lynch Sechrist. Mr. Sechrest loved to work on his farm and was recognized as farmer of the year in Stokes County in 1963. After retiring from farming, he worked for the Town of Pilot Mountain at the Water Plant. Read More	MOUNT AIRY, NC ~ Mr. Daniel Curtis Sechrest, age 97, of Mount Airy, originally from Pilot Mountain, NC, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. He was born in Stokes County on June 21, 1911 to the late Killian and Savannah Lynch Sechrist. Mr. Sechrest loved to work on his farm and was recognized as farmer of the year in Stokes County in 1963. After retiring from farming, he worked for the Town of Pilot Mountain at the Water Plant. Curtis was an avid dancer and loved to flatfoot. He was a man who loved his family, church and was a life-time member of Brims Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Sechrest was preceded in death by his parents; his first love of 53 years, Mary Ann Welborn Sechrest; five brothers, Samuel, Howard, Manuel, Bobbie and Roy Sechrest; and one sister, Roxie Boaz. Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 20, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Brims Grove Baptist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive family and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2009 at Cox-Needham Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Curtis's name to Brims Grove Baptist Church, PO Box 1770, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041.
