Hans Sacrison will officiate. Dan passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Clear Lake, SD. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 pm on Friday, February 4, 2011 in the Deuel School Gymnasium in Clear Lake, SD and will resume Saturday one hour prior to the service. The Houseman Funeral Home in Clear Lake, SD in entrusted with the arrangements. Daniel Jay Toben was born on July 19, 1956 to Doug and Vivian (Herreid) Toben in Clear Lake, SD. He was raised on the family farm north of Clear Lake, where he attended Clear Lake School. On June 6, 1973 Dan was united in marriage to Shirley Unzicker in Milbank, SD. Following their marriage, they lived in Watertown and Clear Lake, SD. In 1975, Dan enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served his country stationed in Tucson, AZ and Marysville, CA as well as in Korea. Following his honorable discharge in 1979, they return to Clear Lake, SD. Although life brought many changes, Dan and Shirley have remained close throughout the years. Dan was then united in marriage to Charlotte Barber on December 24, 1984. They continued to live by Clear Lake and Dan owned and operated the Amoco Station. After selling the station he trucked for Hanna Trucking and currently was employed as the Deuel School Bus Supervisor in Clear Lake where he touched the lives of many. He was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Clear Lake, SD. He was also a member of Pheasants Forever. Some of Dan's favorite activities include: hunting, riding motorcycle, racing, going to concerts and throwing darts. He also loved spending time with his family and friends. Dan had a passion for people and could talk to anyone. Most of his weekends, he spent driving the Party Bus where he met many new friends while keeping them safe. He is lovingly remembered by his two children: Jason (Jamie) Toben, Goodwin, SD and Heather Eide and special friend, Chad Dockter, Watertown, SD; nine grandchildren; parents: Doug and Vivian Toben, Clear Lake, SD; two brothers: Greg (Darla) Toben and Clark (Cindy) Toben, all of Clear Lake, SD; three sisters: Kathy Rahlf, Joy (Dennis) Prehn and Brenda Toben all of Clear Lake, SD; aunts and uncles and many nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Larry Rahlf and good friend Paul Unzicker.
