Neff died at the home of his son, Raymond Neff, 676 West Clay at 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon after a three week's illness. Mr. Neff was born August 20, 1854 at the old Neff homestead, near Slater. He was married to Miss Mary Cameron in 1874, and four children were born to this union, two of whom survive the father, Raymond at whose home he died and Mrs. S.H. Grimes of Slater. Neff died at the home of his son, Raymond Neff, 676 West Clay at 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon after a three week's illness. Mr. Neff was born August 20, 1854 at the old Neff homestead, near Slater. He was married to Miss Mary Cameron in 1874, and four children were born to this union, two of whom survive the father, Raymond at whose home he died and Mrs. S.H. Grimes of Slater. His wife died July 8, 1911. He is also survived by two brothers, I.T. Neff of San Bernadino, and J.W. Neff of Callao, Mo., and two grandchildren, Mary Neff of Marshall and Mrs. Wilbur Hains of Slater, and one great grandchild, Dixie Hains. Mr. Neff has spent most of his life on a farm near Slater, coming to Marshall to make his home with his son about five years ago. He was a truly good man, a loving husband, a kind thoughtful father, a splendid neighbor and friend, and the community has lost a valued citizen in the passing of Mr. Neff, but there is comfort in thought that he was prepared for his summons to the life eternal. He confessed his faith in his Master and united with the Baptist church at Orearville about forty years ago and has since lived a consistent and earnest Christian life. The funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at the Baptist church in Slater, and will be conducted by Rev. R.W. Settle, pastor of the church, and burial will be at the Slater cemetery.
