Memorials may be made to Osceola Senior Center. # # # Darlene Dorothy Alexander, daughter of Frankie Melton and Lillie Minnie (Payne) Melton, was born October 19, 1916 in Rio, Illinois and passed away May 26, 2005 at Osceola Nursing & Rehab Center at the age of 88 years. Darlene was united in marriage to Carl Lawrence Alexander in 1943. They moved to Osceola from Kansas in 1954. Darlene was a housewife and was employed by the Green Thumb Program. She also worked at the telephone office for a few years. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, sewing, crocheting and reading. Preceding Darlene in death were her parents; four brothers; two sisters; husband, Carl in 1968; son-in-law, Gail "Chub" Goodrich; and two grandchildren. She is survived by a son, Ronald Dean Hensley of Olatha, Kansas; daughter, Shirley Mae Goodrich of Osceola; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Lucille O'Roake of Newton; other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 11, at 2 p.m. at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola. The Rev. Phil Coe conducted the service.
