Daryl was born in Faulk Co., South Dakota on April 18, 1921, the son of James and Bessie (Hare) Benning. He married Margaret Mary (Meyer), daughter of Henry and Marie (Meier) Meyer of Faulkton, SD, January 18, 1944, in Aberdeen, Brown Co., SD Daryl served as a Gunner's Mate 1st Class aboard the USS Saratoga during World War II and earned extra pay as a deep sea diver. He spent most of his life in southern California, where he and Margaret operated their appliance and air conditioning business. They moved to Mountain View in 1997 to be near their two daughters, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Daryl spent these years working in his - and other's - gardens, enjoying sporting events, arguing politics, and finding endless opportunities to help his family. He took care of the pets, made household repairs and was always there when anyone needed to borrow his truck. The beneficiaries of Daryl's generosity and good works include his daughters, Linda and Caryl; his grandchildren, Tracy and her husband Chris, Daryl and his wife Monica, Carrie, Joel and Rylan; his great-grandchildren, Colin, Ryan, Peyton, and Charlie; his son -in -law Jack Kirby; his sister Bev,; his brothers Stuart and Jerry; his friend Brian; his special neighbors, Katie and Joey; and his favorite dogs, Alex, Andy and Scruffy. Memorial Mass was celebrated at St. Cyprian's Catholic Church. Arrangements: Cusimano Family Colonial Mortuary, Mountain View, CA.
