Description	:	Dave Davies, 76, a longtime Orondo orchardist, went to be with the Lord Wednesday morning, Aug. 30, 2000 at Colonial Vista Convalescent Center following a longtime illness. He was at peace with his God and deeply loved by his family and friends. He was born March 1, 1924 in Bancofelen, South Wales, England to William F. and Margaret Anne (Johns) Davies. His given name was Stephen Howell Dewi Davies. The Davies family moved from Wales to Orondo in August, 1926. He grew up and received his education in Orondo and Wenatchee High School where he graduated in 1941. He and his three brothers and three sisters worked with their parents to run the Davies and Sons Orchard. Five members of his family served in W.W. II, therefore Dave stayed home to help his parents with the orchard work. On Sept. 26, 1948, he was married to Harriett Alice Enslow. They made their home in Orondo where Dave was partners with his father and brother, Ronald, in Davies and Sons Orchard. Dave continued working in the orchard with his three sons, Ted, Ned and Paul. When he retired, he still actively helped in the orchard with the Davies Brothers. He was often addressed as Mr. Dave by those he worked with. Dave and Harriett have been very active in the Orondo community as members of the Orondo Community Presbyterian Church, the Orondo Grange No. 1015, and the Pomona Grange where he was a 50-year member. He was an elder, a deacon, and a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church. Dave was a volunteer with the Douglas Co. Fire Dept., Dist. No. 4 for over 25 years. He served on the Cenex Board and the Orondo Cemetery Board for many years. Dave is survived by his wife, Harriett A. Davies, Orondo; his three sons and daughters-in-law, Ted and Dianne Davies, Ned and Connie Davies and Paul and Lois Davies, all of Orondo; one brother and sister-in-law, Benjamin John "Jack" and Virginia Davies, Maple Valley; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ethel Mary VanHoven, East Wenatchee and Leila Sarah and Luciene Ott, East Wenatchee; 11 grandchildren and spouses, Zachary Davies, Japan, Marci and Kelly Soth, Chelan, Amber McCarver, Spokane, Brad and Melissa Davies, Australia, Brian Davies and Nicole Davies, both of East Wenatchee, Jon Davies, Tiffany McCarver, Jessica Davies, Luke Davies and Eric Davies, all of Orondo; three great-grandchildren, Morgan, Brandon and one expected, all of Chelan; many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Margaret Ann "Peggy" Dennis Johnson and infant sister, Esse, and two brothers, William Ronald Davies and Levi L. Johns. Memorial services will be held at Telford's Chapel of the Valley, Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. with Pastor John Rogers officiating. A graveside inurnment will follow at 1:30 in the Orondo Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Orondo Community Church. Those who wish may make memorial donations to the Orondo Community Church, the Orondo Dollars for Scholars, the Orondo Fire Dept., or charity of choice.
