Pollard, brief mention of whose death was given in our last issue was born in Oldham county, Kentucky, August 24, 1828, and was 69 years old at the time of his death. He grew to manhood in his native state and was there united in marriage to Miss Felicia Dawkins, October 8, 1850. To this union was born six daughters and five sons, all of whom survive to mourn his death. They are Mrs. L. W. Johnson, Mrs. W. R. Shurtz, Mrs. Geo. E. Hannum, Mrs. E. W. Collins, B. A. Pollard and Henry J. Pollard of Boone; Dr. A. L. Pollard of Denver, Colorado, Mrs W. E. Cox of Decatur, Iowa, and W. D. and C. L. Pollard and Mrs. Ed Friedley of Mineral Ridge. In 1852 the family removed to Indiana where they resided six years and then came to Boone county where he resided continuously until his death. He was among the earliest and most highly esteemed pioneer residents of the county, a man of sterling character and integrity, loved and respected by all. He united with the Baptist church at Mineral Ridge in 1876 and had lived a faithful and consistent member of that denomination ever since.
