Description	:	David B. Agnew, a very well known and highly respected citizen of Nodaway and Adams county died at La Junta, Colorado, Friday, July 3,1903. Mr. Agnew has been failing in health for some time past and finally decided to go to the Arkansas valley hoping that the change to a milder climate would be beneficial. Read More	David B. Agnew, a very well known and highly respected citizen of Nodaway and Adams county died at La Junta, Colorado, Friday, July 3,1903. Mr. Agnew has been failing in health for some time past and finally decided to go to the Arkansas valley hoping that the change to a milder climate would be beneficial. In company with his son Guy he left Nodaway, Thursday evening, June 24, for Colorado and reached that state without any material change in his condition add the hope was held out that he would improve and be able to return again in better health. But it was not to be, and the sad news reached his family here last Saturday .that he was dead. The silent form of our fellow townsman arrived in Nodaway, Sunday evening at l0:18, and was borne to the family residence where his loved ones awaited the sad home coming. The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon. After services at the home by the G.A.R., the funeral sermon was preached at the Presbyterian church by Rev. J. K. Driver, assisted by Rev. Carpenter of Nodaway and Rev. Rowley of Brooks, and the words of consolation and hope wer listended to by concurred in by one of the largest audiences ever assembled at that church. After the sermon, the services were taken in charge by the Masonic fraternity and the remains conducted to their last resting place followed by a large concourse of sorrowing friends and relatives. David B. Agnew was born June 14, 1843, in Blair County, Pennsylvania. He enlisted in Pennsylvania, February 16, 1864, and served in the army twenty-two months. After the war he came west and went to Illinois and remained there a year, after which he came to Cedar County, Iowa and from there to Arcadia, Carroll County, Iowa. While a resident of Arcadia, he married Miss Florence L. Simpson of Clarence, Cedar County, Iowa on March 21, 1877. He remained in Arcadia five years, after his marriage, then came to Adams County, Iowa where he lived until a short time before his death. Seven children were born to this union, all of whom are alive to this day. Three brothers and one sister survive. On January 9,1891, he was received with his wife into fellowship in the Presbyterian-church at Nodaway, and was faithful unto death, He was an elder until the last, and bore the interest of the church upon his, heart. He believed in his God and was not, for God took him. He was faithful as a husband, father, friend, citizen, comrade, brother, Christian.
