STANTON David Barney Stanton, oldest son of James Stanton and Mary Safrona Allen was born March 26, 1848 in New York state near the city of Crown Point. He passed away at the home of his son W. B. Stanton in Ewing, Nebraska, on October 2nd, 1929, aged 81 years, 6 months and 6 days. When five years of age he moved to Clinton county, Iowa. Stanton in Ewing, Nebraska, on October 2nd, 1929, aged 81 years, 6 months and 6 days. When five years of age he moved to Clinton county, Iowa. He was married to Sarah Ann Updegraff at Monmouth, Iowa, on February 21st, 1874. To this union eight children were born, all of whom are living except one, who died in infancy. The four sons and three daughters who survive him are: Mrs. V. A. Black, Mrs. C. O. Boatman, D. A. Stanton, W. B. Stanton, C. L. Stanton, R. C. Stanton and Mrs. E. R. Phelps. His wife preceded him to the great beyond on April 7th, 1925. Beside his children there are left to mourn his death his three brothers and two sisters: James A. Stanton, Elliot O. Stanton, Fred C. Stanton and his sisters Mrs. Nellie Sanders and Mrs. Kate Smith, also 34 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the M. E. Church in Ewing on October 4th, conducted by Rev. Edward Magill and interment made in the Ewing cemetery. __ Card of Thanks We wish to express our gratitude to the friends and neighbors for their many acts of kindness and expressions of sympathy tendered during the illness and death of our father.
