Read More	Pioneer Pair Wed 50 Years, Celerate (sic) Day Little Current, Aug. 26-Pioneer residents of this community, Mr. and Mrs. David Boyter celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 15 at their home on North Meredith St. with over 30 relatives attending from the North Shore and the Manitoulin Island. Feature of the occasion was the presentation made to the happy couple by the members of the Odd-fellows and Rebekah lodges of town. Mr. Boyter had been a member of the I.O.O.F. for over 30 years and is a charter member of the Rebekah lodge. A beautiful satin comforter and spread were the gifts of the two lodges while a purse of money was a gift from the family. Telegrams of felicitations were also received during the day from Vancouver, Toronto, Bruce Mines and other parts and many gifts were received by mail. During the luncheon hour a beautiful tribute was paid to Mr. and Mrs. Boyter by Mrs. Sidney Smith, in the form of a congratulatory message and this was responded to by their daughter, Mrs. Morland Ritchie. Mr. Boyter was born at Thornbury and came to the Manitoulin in 1877 with his father, settling at Gore Bay, where his father was a merchant and the first lighthouse keeper. Long Residence He came to Little Current 52 years ago, and on August 15, 1894 was married to Margaret May who had been born in Little Current and has spent her life in this community. Both David Boyter and his wife were born in the same year, only a few months separating their ages. David Boyter is one of the oldest living merchants of the town, having had a shoe repair shop on Water St. for the past 40 years. He is well known throughout the Manitoulin Island for his work in this repair shop. He still conducts his business in the shop next to the post office and is able to carry on with the slogan "business as usual," being in exceptionally fine health. There were three children born to the couple; Robert, who died a few years ago; Mrs. Morland Ritchie, of town, and Mrs. Ray Johnston of Gore Bay. Out-of-town guests at the celebration were: Mrs. Allan Merchant, New Liskeard; Mrs. William Priddle, Silverwater; Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Addison, Silverwater; Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Neville, Mindemoya, all sisters of Mrs. Boyter; and two brothers, John G. May and J. Gilbert May, of Little Current. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Neale, of Blind River, and Mrs. Roy Woodhouse, of Parry Sound, were also at the gathering, as well as two grandchildren of Walford.
