Description	:	Dave Steider Sr. was born on July 18, 1908, in Milford, the son of Peter and Barbara (Summer) Steider and passed away Oct. 1, 1994, at the Fillmore County Hospital, at the age of 86 years, 2 months, and 13 days. Read More	Dave Steider Sr. was born on July 18, 1908, in Milford, the son of Peter and Barbara (Summer) Steider and passed away Oct. 1, 1994, at the Fillmore County Hospital, at the age of 86 years, 2 months, and 13 days. He was one of five children in the family. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized upon his confession of faith in the Salem Mennonite Church of Shickley in 1922. On Nov. 21, 1965, he transferred his membership to the Faith Mennonite Church of Geneva as a charter member. On March 21, 1928, Dave was married to Elma Springer. Together they shared the joys and sorrows of life for 47 years. To this union were born six daughters and one son. Daves' wife, Elma died on Oct. 21, 1975. On Jan. 18, 1977, Dave marreid Grace L. Stafford of Phoenix, Ariz., Grace died on Dec. 18, 1983. Survivors include five daughters, Frances (Ted) Roth; Wilma (Richard) Lichti, Margaret Uden; Sandra (Robert) Kennel; Janet (Jim) Birky; son-in-law Titus Swartzendruber; daughter-in-law Betty Steider of Geneva; 27 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren; two brothers Ed and Clarence; and many more relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by parents; two wives, Elma and Grace; one daughter, Lucille Swartzendruber; one son, David Steider Jr.; one sister, Alma; one brother, Bill and two brothers, Elmer and Harry, who died in infancy. Funeral services were conducted from the Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva on Tuesday, Oct. 4, with the Rev. Keith Van Drew and Rev. Neville Peterson officiating. Carol Frey accompanied John Lauber, who sang "How Great Thou Art," "Be Still My Soul" and "I Bowed On My Knees and Cried, Holy." Casket bearers were John Steider, Jake Birky, Jon Birky, Mark Swartzendruber, Rick Roth and Jon Lichti. Honorary casket bearers were Tom Swartzendruber, Dennis Lichti, Mike Lichti, Norman Roth, Ron Roth, Craig Uden, Pat Steider and Joe Birky. Interment was in the Geneva Public Cemetery.
