Description	:	Elma Steider was born February 19, 1908, in Stuttgart, Ark., the daughter of Christian and Phoebe Springer. At the age of 12 years, her family moved to Carleton, Neb. She accepted Christ as her personal Saviour and was baptized upon her confession of faith in the Salem Mennonite Church of Shickley in September 1922. Later, on November 21, 1965, she transferred her membership to the Faith Mennonite Church of Geneva as a charter member, and she remained a faithful member there until her death. She accepted Christ as her personal Saviour and was baptized upon her confession of faith in the Salem Mennonite Church of Shickley in September 1922. Later, on November 21, 1965, she transferred her membership to the Faith Mennonite Church of Geneva as a charter member, and she remained a faithful member there until her death. On March 21, 1928, she was married to Dave Steider. Theirs was a devoted union, sharing the joys and sorrows of life for 47 years. Elma was a loving wife and mother, always concerned about the welfare of those dear to her. Our loved one patiently accepted her long illness as the Lord’s will until eternal rest came on Tuesday, October 21, 1975, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, at the age of 67 years. She was an inspiration to the many who visited her during her long illness. Survivors include her husband, Dave; one son, Dave Jr., and wife Betty; six daughters, Frances and husband, Ted Roth, of Crete; Lucille and husband, Titus Swartzendruber, of Shickley; Wilma and husband, Richard Lichti, of Shickley; Margaret and husband, Wayne Uden, of Bruning; Sandra and husband, Robert Kennel, of Geneva; and Janet and husband, Jim Birky, of Strang; 27 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one brother, Joe Springer of Shickley; two sisters, Lena Stauffer of Lincoln and Barbara Kennel of Iowa City, Oa., and many more relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister. Funeral services were conducted by Farmer & Son Funeral Home at the Faith Mennonite Church in Geneva on October 23, 1975, at 10 a.m. Rev. Walter Regier officiated. Mrs. Walter Regier played selections on the Vibraharp before the service, and accompanied Pastor and Mrs. Donavan Diller of Beatrice during the service as they sang, “How Great Thou Art” and “In the Garden.” Pallbearers were six grandsons; Rick Roth of Seward, Tom Swartzendruber of Shickley, Dennis and Michael Lichti of Shickley, John Steider of Geneva and Craig Uden of Bruning.
