He was born March 21, 1915, at the Hale Ranch, Twenty-five Mile Creek, Lake Chelan, Washington, to Titus and Mary (Murdock) Hale. David was a 1936, graduate of Chelan High School. Read More	DAVID HENRY HALE - Thursday - March 30, 2006 Chelan - David Henry Hale, 91, went to be with the Lord on March 28, 2006, at Lake Chelan Community Hospital. He was born March 21, 1915, at the Hale Ranch, Twenty-five Mile Creek, Lake Chelan, Washington, to Titus and Mary (Murdock) Hale. David was a 1936, graduate of Chelan High School. After graduation, he worked on the home ranch with his father. In 1938, he started his career with the US Forest Service. Also in 1938, he enlisted in the US Army and he served in the European Theater of WWII with signal corps of the 40th Field Artillery Regiment of the US Army. He was awarded the bronze star for meritorious service in Germany and discharged with the rank of sergeant. During David's long career with the Forest Service, he was involved in bridge and trail building, and fire fighting. While serving as lookout on Pyramid Peak, he prepared homemade pie and ice cream for the sheep herders, in addition to his official duties. He retired from the Forest Service in 1972. On December 8th, 1946, he married Elizabeth (Betty) Schwecke of Lake Chelan. Following his retirement they spent several months traveling throughout the US. David was known for his generosity, sharing the bounty from his garden, his apiary and his wood crafting. He enjoyed backpacking the high country, fishing and bow hunting. He was a member of Little Stone Church, serving as deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a lifetime member of the Entiat Grange, serving in many offices, including Master. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Marion and Murdock; and grandson, Jordan Hale. He is survived by his daughter, Susan (Michael) Wahl of Renton; son, Carl of Chelan; his daughter, Jessica and her son Kekoa; and his daughter-in-law Mei and her son Kyle; son, Phil (Willa) of Chelan and their children, Chandra (James) Moore, Tabetha Hale and Forrest Hale; brother, Roger Hale; and sisters, Dorothy McKellar and Caroline Yearout. Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2006, at Little Stone Church in Chelan. Arrangements are by Precht-Rose Chapel, Chelan.
