Hunter David Henry Hunter died suddenly at the home of his sister, Mrs. Walter Smith, lot 3, con. 17, East Garafraxa, on Monday, December 2nd, in his 78th year. Hunter David Henry Hunter died suddenly at the home of his sister, Mrs. Walter Smith, lot 3, con. 17, East Garafraxa, on Monday, December 2nd, in his 78th year. Mr. Hunter was the second son of Isaac Hunter and Eliza Hughson, early residents of The Maples district in East Garafraxa. He was one of a family of thirteen brothers and sisters. He spent his early life in East Garafraxa and Caledon, later moving to Hamilton, where he lived for a number of years. Mr. Hunter was married twice, first to Mary J. Hughson, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Hughson, East Garafraxa, and later to Sarah Ann Shaw, of Caledon. He is survived by a son and daughter by the second marriage, John Neil and Tena, Mrs. L. Robertson, both living in Toronto. There are also three brothers and four sisters, W.J. Hunter, Olcott, N.Y., I.E. Hunter, Gravenhurst, John Samuel Hunter, Minott, N.D., Mrs. Walter Smith, The Maples, with whom Mr. Hunter had made his home for the last eight years, Mrs. W.J. Smith, Beamsville, Mrs. J.H. Nichol, Montreal, and Mrs. J.J. Nicholson, Humber Bay, Ontario. The funeral was held from J.W. Turner’s Funeral Home, West Broadway, to Greenwood cemetery on Wednesday afternoon, December 4th. The services were taken by Rev. W.J. Booth. Pallbearers were Messrs. W.H. Hunter, Roy and Todd Smith, John Braiden, Haldin Smith and Jack Nicholson. Source: Dufferin County Museum
