David was born September 4, 1943, to Swede and Theonita Nelson and graduated from Tri-Center School in 1961. David was an independent truck driver with Neola Trucking and served as the Fire Chief for the City of Neola. He was a long standing member of St. Patrick’s Church and now is free to fish and play cards daily. David is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of almost 53 years, Pat Nelson, whom he married on December 21, 1961; son, Davey Nelson, Jr. and wife, Terry, of Omaha, Neb.; daughter, Lisa Corrin, of Crescent, Iowa; son, Bobby Nelson and wife, Gayle, of Persia, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, 3 great granddaughters; brothers, Jim Nelson and wife, Bev, of Persia, Iowa, Ken Nelson and wife, Diane, of Neola, Iowa; sister Kay Zimmerman, of Luling, Texas; brothers, Max Nelson and wife, Carolyn, of Persia, Iowa, Dennis Nelson and wife, Cindy, of Council Bluffs, Oran Nelson and wife, Donna, of Neola, Iowa; many nieces and nephews. 12 Nov Wednesday Visitation 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM Christian Wake Service at 6:30 p.m. St. Patrick's Catholic Church - Neola 309 3rd Street, Neola, Iowa 51559 13 Nov Thursday Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 AM St. Patrick's Catholic Church - Neola 309 3rd Street, Neola, Iowa 51559 Luncheon will follow at the church hall.
