Read More	Obituary From "The Ottumwa Courier," October 2, 2021: David Dimmitt OTTUMWA–David Lee Dimmitt Jr., 61, of Ottumwa, died September 26, 2021. He was born November 27, 1959 in Ottumwa to David Lee and Joanna Shewry Dimmitt Sr. He married Elizabeth "Liz" Kopchak Dimmitt. A graduate of Valley View High School in California, he attended college in California for front end mechanic training earning several certificates and attended Indian Hills Community College earning his CDL in the truck driver program. David had worked as a drywall installer, had worked for an asphalt company in California, had worked 9 years for Excel and served as Vice President for Union Local #230. For the past 11 years drove a truck for R.E. Allen Trucking. He attended First Pentecostal Assembly of God. David coached National Little League. David enjoyed spending time with his family and working on cars. Surviving is his wife, Liz; children, Sabrina (Brian) Singer, Michael Madrid, Niki (Miguel) Mendoza, Manuel Madrid (Tiffany), Sarah Sanchez (Cory), Carl Dimmitt, Ericka Dimmitt (Jonathan), Angela (Brett) Bennett, Adam Dimmitt (Kaylie), Brittany Dimmitt (Brent), Cherish Dimmitt and Warren Dimmitt; several grandchildren; siblings, Sally Dimmitt, Judy (Derek) Cutlip, Millie (Barry) Beggs and Edie (Mike) Stotts; father-in-law, David Newman; his dog Maggie; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, David Dimmitt III and Steven Madrid; a daughter, Joleane Dimmitt; two grandsons, Sebastian Madrid and Dawson Vandello; a sister, Terrie Evans and mother-in-law, Barbara Newman. Visitation will be open 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 6th at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday. Cremation will follow the visitation. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, October 7th at First Pentecostal Assembly of God with Pastor Richard Schlotter officiating. For those unable to attend the service may be viewed on the First Pentecostal Assembly of God Facebook page. Inurnment will be in Round Point Cemetery.
