The deceased had been a resident of Hand County for 26 years having moved here from Bayard, Iowa, in 1901. OBITUARY David Sylvester Ewing, only son in a family of five children, was born on the fifth day of March, 1869 in Richland County, Wisconsin. At the age of seven years he moved with his parents from Wisconsin to Bagley, Iowa, in the vicinity of which he grew to manhood. In February 1900, at the age of thirty he was united in marriage to Miss Minnie Haefs at Bayard, Iowa. To this union were born two children, one a boy, Clarence Myrle, born September 14, 1903, who died in infancy, and a daughter, Hazel Marie. In September, 1901, Mr. Ewing and wife with Mrs. Ewing's parents moved, by wagon to Hand County, So. Dak. and settled at Miller. Since then they have made their home in Hand County and have been engaged in farming until about five years ago when Mr. Ewing was forced to give up active work because of the affliction of Diabetis. Although he had been quite closely kept indoors during the cold weather, he was confined to his bed only a few hours. Death came Tuesday morning, December 27 at one thirty-five. Three sisters have preceded him in death, all in the month of December. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife and one daughter, Hazel Marie, who were continually with him during his illness. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Julia Clearwater of Des Moines, Iowa and two uncles, Frank Ewing of Ethan So. Dak. and Sylvester Ewing of Minnesota, besides a large number of relatives and many friends to mourn his loss. Funeral services were held at 2 0'clock Thursday, Dec. 29, frm the Methodist Church in Miller and internment made in the G.A.R. Cemetery. Rev. N. Hass of Ree Height,s officiated. The Ree Heights congregational Ladies' quartet accompanied and delivered several very beautiful hymns. December 30, 1927
