At the age of twenty-five years, he came to Ottawa county and with the exception of two years at Minneapolis, has lived near Ada. On April 12, 1883, he was married to Charlotte A. Redding, who preceded him in death, September 17, 1902. To this union were born six children, all of whom survive their father: Zora Bradbury of Minneapolis, Phebe Laity of Ada, Floyd, Ervin and Cora Reynolds of Delphos. He also leaves fifteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. On March 12, 1893 he was baptized into the Ada Baptist church, upon his profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, as his Lord and Savior. He was a good neighbor, and a kind, loving husband and father. For about twenty years after his wife's death, he acted as both father and mother to his children, keeping them together until they had home of their own. Since then he has made his home alternately with his children. During these many years he has made hundreds of friends who, with his children, sincerely mourn his departure. Funeral services were conducted in the Ada Baptist church, by Rev. D.T. Burress, Sept. 30, and the body was laid to rest by the side of his wife in the Ada cemetery.
