At the home of,James Parker in Groton,Massachusetts on Oct 30,1733 the second proprietors meeting was held for the town of Nichewaug,Massachusetts.It was at this meeting that the original settlers Lots(1-47)were laid out for the town.Eight years later Lot #26 would go to,David Sanderson and was on the east side of the street and Lot #2 would go to,David's brother,Nathaniel Sanderson and was on the west side of the street.Their facing lots were deeded to them by,Silas Walker on Sep 3,1741.David paid the sum of three hundred pounds to,Silas Walker for said parcel.Both Lot's were at the top of Mann Hill.Mann Hill was two miles north of the village center,at the end of "Petersham Street"(Now North Main Street/ Rt 31),named for,William Mann who's house was just north of the Sanderson property.(Marked: W. Mann on posted map) Both,David Sanderson and his brother,Nathaniel were given their inheritance by their father,Jonathan Sanderson prior to Jonathan's death in 1743.On page one of the Sep 29,1743 will of,Jonathan Sanderson,Jonathan writes: "I give to my well beloved son,David the sum of five pounds old Tanners to be paid by my excutor within two years after my death.I have already conferred to my son,David in other ways".This was likely a refereance to money both,David and Nathaniel recieved from their father to purchase their properties in,Nichewaug in 1741,because,Jonathan made an identical declaration for his son,Nathaniel Sanderson in his will,writting: "I have already conferred to my son,Nathaniel in other ways".David and Nathaniel's two older brothers,Jonathan and,Thomas Sanderson had recieved parcels of land,for thier inheritance,from their father,Jonathan Sanderson.It's more likely than not that,Jonathan did not have enough land to devide and distribute between his four son's therefore he provided to his two youngest son's,David and Nathaniel in "Other Ways",as stated in, Jonathan Sanderson's will. In Weston,Massachusetts on May 14,1743,David Sanderson made his intentions for marriage to,Abigail Jones official.Abigail was the daughter of,Capt James Jones(1679-1770) and Sarah Moore(1684-1774). Three months later,in Weston,on Aug 11,1743,David Sanderson and,Abigail Jones were married by Minister of the gospel,William Williams. On Oct 6,1745,David Sanderson and his wife,Abigail Jones were dismissed from their church in Weston,Massachusetts to enter the Church in Nichewaug...Once in Nichewaug,David and his wife,Abigail Jones Sanderson had the following eight children.. 1)Abigail Sanderson b Dec 18,1745,d Jul 21,1748 2)Sarah Sanderson b Nov 8,1747,d ?.m Caleb Johnson 3)Abigail Sanderson b Jan 9,1749,d Nov 22,1756 4)Ebenezer Sanderson b Jun 8,1752,d Apr 29,1800.m 1st Lucy Bragg,m 2nd Sarah Stone of Ashby,Ma. 5)David Sanderson Jr b Jun 10,1754,d ?.m Lucretia "Lucy" Willard. 6)Lucy (twin) Sanderson b May 7,1756,d ?.m Amasa Coburn 7)Lydia "Lizzie" (twin) Sanderson b May 7,1756,d Apr 15,1821.m John Cutting 8)Elizabeth Sanderson b Feb 26,1759,d Feb 12,1839.m Jedediah Gould In July of 1750,David Sanderson was chosen Deacon of the church in Nichewaug.The town "Petersham" ,re-named from "Nichewaug",was not incorporated as a town until April 20,1754.David Sanderson served for 20 years as town clerk was Selectmen for 11 years.David served many positions of trust in the town,Town treasurer from 1776-1780. Two of his son's,Ebenezer Sanderson and David Sanderson Jr fought in the Revolutionary War as did his son in law,Jedediah Gould husband to his youngest daughter,Elizabeth Sanderson. David Sanderson's wife Abigail died around 1785.After her death,David Sanderson married second to,Abigail Miles on May 16,1786. David Sanderson died in 1805 at the age of 90.His will was probated in Petersham,Massachusetts on Aug 13,1806.His nephew,Yeoman Jonathan Sanderson acted as excutor to his estate,since his oldest son,Ebenezer Sanderson had preceded him in death five years earlier in 1800.
