He retired from the Carrier Corporation as an hvac technician after many years of service. He later retired as courier with Terre Haute First National Bank. He later retired as courier with Terre Haute First National Bank. He was born Oct. 30, 1932, in Marshall, Ill. to John Andrew Layton and Emma Christine Hollis Layton. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Lucy M. Cox Layton. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, James Allen Layton; a daughter, Cynthia Lee Layton; a daughter-in-law, Betty Layton; a grandson, Jeremy Dean Layton; and five sisters and four brothers. Dean was a U.S. Army veteran having served as occupation forces being stationed in Japan after World War II. He was a 55 year member of the Plumbers and Steamers Union Local 157. He loved to go camping, fishing, and boating. He belonged to RC model airplane club for many years and he also enjoyed repairing, restoring, and collecting antique clocks.
