They made their home in Momence township on a farm they... Read More	RICHARDS, DEAN—Dean Richards was born on a farm near Grafton to Cecil P. and Donna Tatro Richards on June 17, 1928. He passed away at Fillmore County hospital, Wednesday, April 16, 1980, at the age of 51 years, 9 months and 29 days. Dean was baptized shortly after birth, and later became a member of the Geneva United Methodist church. He attended District 61 country school and graduated from Geneva high school with the class of 1945. He married Doris Merrill October 3, 1948. They made their home in Momence township on a farm they later purchased. This union was blessed with two wonderful sons, Blaine Fredrick, on May 24, 1950 and Rodger Dean on August 12, 1952. His first love was for his family. He was especially proud and happy when he became grandpa to Blaine’s son, Brian Wade, (age 4) and Rodger’s daughter, Jennifer Kay, (age 16 months). Dean chose and enjoyed farming and livestock as his life vocation. He was pleased and proud that his sons chose farming as their profession, following in his footsteps. Dean was a charter member and Past Master of the Geneva Community Grange. He also was a member and Past Noble Grand of the Geneva odd Fellow Lodge. Dean was a good Christian man. He enjoyed life to the fullest. He like music and flowers. Dean was held in high esteem as a good neighbor and friend. Although his life span was short, he lived it well. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Dean was preceded in death by his grandparents and father-in-law. He leaves to mourn his untimely death his wife, Doris; son, Blaine, his wife, Rachel and grandson, Brian; son Rodger, his wife, Annetta, and granddaughter, Jennifer; his parents, Cecil and Donna Richards; one brother, Dale, his wife, Virginia, and family; mother-in-law, Mrs. Irene Merrill; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Phyllis and Lawrence Traudt, and family; and a host of relatives and close friends. Funeral services were conducted from the United Methodist church in Geneva at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 1980, with Rev. Jay Funk officiating. Mrs. Norval Lomax accompanied Mr. Delwin Myers who sang “Where No One Stand’s Alone” and “The Lord’s Prayer.” Pallbearers were dear friends of Dean. They were Guy Brown Jr., Clair Christiancy, Mervell D. Bumgarner, Darrel Hughes, George Kohout and Norman Wright Jr. Interment was in the Geneva public cemetery with the Farmer and Son funeral home in charge of arrangements.
