Description	:	Deane Baldwin Mr. and Mrs. Gar Baldwin, west of town, received the sad news Friday of the death of their only son, Deane, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Lucille Kessel, in Boise, Idaho. He was 36 years of age and his early life was spent on the home farm until after his graduation from Birmingham high school with the class of 1921. He was a great friend of the Enterprise and wrote many short sketches for it after he went to the Southland. We all sympathize with the family in their sorrow. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Garfield Baldwin four miles northwest of Birmingham and is survived by his wife; son, Dean[sic]; his parents and two sisters, Mrs. Clifford Unkrich of Fairfield and Mrs. Robert Kessel of Boise, Idaho. He was graduated from the Birmingham High school in 1921. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ BALDWIN FUNERAL Birmingham---Funeral services for Deane Baldwin, scheduled for today, have been postponed to Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist church in Birmingham. The postponement was necessary because of the late arrival of Mr. Baldwin’s wife and daughter[sic] from Little Rock, Ark ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ DEANE C. BALDWIN Deane Chester Baldwin, son of Garfield and Mayme Baldwin, was born on Feb. 27, 1902, on a farm four miles northwest of Birmingham, and passed away very suddenly with a heart attack at the home of his sister Mrs. Robert Kessel in Boise, Idaho, where he had gone only ten days ago and where he was preparing to enter business and be joined by his wife and son, Gerald Deane, who were visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Carmack, at North Little Rock, Ark. Deane was converted and joined the Bethel M. E. church when he was quite young. He graduated from the Birmingham high school with the class of 1921, after which he taught in the Crum rural school, also attended Parsons college and later graduated from the Chillicothe Business college. He then taught in the business and commercial department in the North Little Rock high school for four years and for nine years in the Arkansas State Vocational school in Huntsville, Ark. On June 6, 1927, he was united in marriage to Margaret Evelyn Carmack of North Little Rock, Ark., and to them was born one son, Gerald Deane. Deane was a cheerful disposition and held in high esteem by all who knew him, making many friends wherever he went. Besides his wife and son, he is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Garfield Baldwin; two sisters, Mrs. Robert Kessel of Boise, Idaho, and Mrs. Clifford Unkrich of Fairfield and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, April 19, in the M. E. church in charge of F. M. James of Keosauqua, assisted by Rev. Jay Waterman. A male quartet consisting of Floyd William, Merrill Countryman, Lester McKee and John Wilson, with Mrs. Effie Dustin at the piano sang “Old Rugged Cross,” Sweet Memories of Life” and “A Perfect Day.” The pallbearers were Claire Wiley, Lloyd Woodrow, Earl Hall, Ralph Johnson, Bernard Woodrow, and Verne Hall.
