His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ, 431 W. Melgard Road. The Rev. Tim Fugman will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery at Columbia. Miller-Huebl Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from 11 a.m to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and for one hour on Tuesday prior to the service at the church. Relatives and casketbearers are requested to meet at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Delbert Alan Wylie was born May 31, 1914 to Fred and Ida (McCormnick) Wylie in rural Aberdeen. They moved to Warner and lived there from 1915 until 1919, when they moved to the Barnard area. He attended elementary school in Franklin Township and graduated in 1932 from Barnard High School, where he participated in all sports and music. He farmed for four years before enrolling in South Dakota State University, specializing in agricultural engineering. In 1941 he was an engineering aide for the Soil Conservation Service at Faith until World War II. His father died in 1942 and he took over operation of the family farm. He married May Norby on June 19, 1949, at Spencer. They continued to farm until 1959, when they moved to Aberdeen. He did conservation work with the Brown-Marshall Soil Conservation Board for many years and was a local and county committeeman for the Brown County Soil Conservation Committee. He served as office manager for the Brown County Agriculture Stabilization and Consevation Service. Later he worked with insurance and securities before going to work for Coast-to-Coast hardware until he retired in 1985. During the years he lived on the farm, he was active in township, school and church activities, serving on the Barnard School Board, several congregational church boards and as master of the Masonic Lodge in Frederick. He served in many officies and on many boards at Plymouth Congregational Church and sang in the church choir for 30 years. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club for more than 30 years and served as president in 1979, as well as on many of the boards. He transfered his Masonic membership from Frederick to the Aberdeen Masonic Lodge No 211. He was a member of the Aberdeen Elks Club, R.G.'s Coffee Club, the Senior Citizens and volunteered with RSVP until his health failed. He was an avid sports fan and loved to play golf, read and travel. Survivors include his wife of Aberdeen; two sons, Robert Wylie of Pierre and Jerry Wylie of Des Moines, Iowa; one daughter, Mrs. Thom (Nancy) England of Boise, Idaho; three brothers, Merle Wylie of Aberdeen, Floyd Wylie of Viborg and Chester Wylie of Hutchinson, MN; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Casketbearers will be Ruth Hagan, Vicki Libis, Evelyn Fisher, Eldon Wylie, Wayne Wylie, Donald Wylie, Gary Ellsworth and Keith Wylie. The organist will be Glenna Fouberg. The soloist will be Susie Grote. The ushers will be Robert Carrol and Wilmer Kirschenmann.
