Online Obituary at: www.jamisonschmitzfuneralhome.com Delbert is survived by his Wife of 63 years—Norma Glew of Vinton, Iowa 3 Daughters—Bonnie (Pat) Peacock of Vinton, Iowa Peg Chensvold of Cedar Rapids, Iowa Julie (Bill) Kester of Walker, Iowa Several Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren who will always treasure the special times they shared with Grandpa Brother—Don (Dorothy) Glew of Ackley, Iowa Sister-in-law—Charlotte Glew of Maynard, Iowa Daughter- in-law—Tammy Glew of Oelwein, Iowa Many Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and close Friends. He was preceded in death by his Parents—his Son and best friend (Charles D. Glew on June 24, 2002) and a Brother (Merrill Glew). Delbert Leroy Glew was born on September 23, 1923 in rural Dubuque County, Iowa the son of Roy and Floy (Stuart) Glew. He graduated from Maynard High School at Maynard, Iowa in 1942. Delbert was a veteran of the Army serving during World War II and in the Battle of the Bulge. Delbert married Norma Gilley on March 9, 1947 at the First Presbyterian Church at Maynard, Iowa. He farmed and retired after several years with the Fayette County Highway Department. He spent his years of retirement traveling, fishing, playing cards with their card group of 58 years, woodworking,and spending time with his family. His many woodworking projects are his family's treasures. Delbert was a member of Christ United Presbyterian Church in Oelwein, was a 50 year Mason and was a past Worshipful Master of Sunnyside Masonic Lodge # 510 A.F. & A.M. in Maynard and later became a member of Hebron Masonic Lodge # 374 A.F. & A.M. in Oelwein. He was also a former member of Lundbye-Carpenter American Legion Post # 245 in Maynard. Delbert has been a resident of Vinton since January of 2010.
