Bryant, a resident of the Mormon Ridge neighborhood, seven miles west of Albion died at 1:34 a.m. Friday at the Woods Hospital at State Center where he had been a patient for a week. He had been suffering with heart disease for the past year. He was a veteran thresher and corn sheller of the Mormon Ridge neighborhood, operating such outfits since 1906. Delbert Vernon Bryant was born November 22, 1886 in Story county, a son of William A and Cora B Eley Bryant. He married Lela C Jester May 25, 1910 at Des Moines, and she died November 10, 1928. He married Mrs Ruby McKelvey December 27, 1933 at Eldora and she and his son and daughter, Julius A Bryant of Clemons, and Mrs John Goecke of Marshalltown, survive him. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Douglas Goecke and Marshalltown and David Bryant of Clemons, one step-daughter, Mrs Ernest Ness of Clemons, and one step granddaughter, Charlene Ness of Clemons. One son, Harley Leroy, preceded him in death. The body will be removed from the Estel Funeral Home in Marshalltown Saturday afternoon to the family home at Mormon Ridge where a prayer service will be held at 1:15 p.m. Sunday followed by funeral services at the Clemons Christian church at 2:30 p.m. Both services will be in charge of Rev A O Bishop.
