Della Mae Self Thompson died in Las Vegas, NV on September 30, 2014 at the age of 102. Della is survived by her daughter of Las Vegas, NV, grandson and his wife of Fresno CA., great grandson of Fresno, CA and two nephews. She was preceded in death by husband Raymond Milton Thompson of Anacoco, LA., brother Robert Dewitt Self Jr. of Bryan, TX., and sisters Margaret Dove and Inez Pringle of Shreveport, LA.. Della was born on October 13, 1911 in Anacoco, LA to Robert Dewitt Self and Loudie Anna Ferguson. She is a graduate of Highlands Hospital with a diploma in nursing. She married Master Sargent Raymond Milton Thompson in 1936 and they lived in several locations during his career in the Air Force where she worked as a nurse. In later years they lived in Carlsbad, New Mexico and finally settled in Anacoco, LA. After the death of her husband Della moved to Shreveport, LA and lastly moved to Las Vegas to be with her daughter. Services were under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
