Butler, third child of Guy Steven Nowels and Hattie May Elliot was born on a farm west of Glasco, Ks. on April 28, 1905 and departed this life on Sunday, October 16, 1994. Butler, third child of Guy Steven Nowels and Hattie May Elliot was born on a farm west of Glasco, Ks. on April 28, 1905 and departed this life on Sunday, October 16, 1994. She graduated from Glasco High School in 1924, attended college at Emporia, and returned to teach in the Glasco area. On July 3, 1930 she was united in marriage with Dr. Clair L. Butler at Harrisonville, Mo. The couple moved to New York City where a daughter, Barbara Ann was born in 1942. In 1946 the family relocated to Sarasota, FL when they bought out an existing Veterinary Hospital. Delma helped her husband, Clair, operate the Hospital as well as raise their children. She was an artist and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sarasota. Preceding her in death were her parents, a sister Alda Gray, a brother Wilbur "Steamer" Nowels and a granddaughter Lana Loefer. She is survived by her husband Dr. Clair L. Butler of Sarasota, a son . . . a daughter . . . , two sisters, Connie Rinehart of Leavenworth, KS, Ruth Russell of Glasco, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Delma requested cremation. A Graveside Service is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. on May 27, 1995 at the Glasco Cemetery with the Revenend Phyllis Nungester officiating.
