Read More	2000, Wednesday October 25, The Almonte Gazette page 16 Delmar Robert Millar Delmar Robert Millar passed away October 6 after an illness of one year. He was 74 years of age. The second of five children born to Lorne Millar and Teresa France, Mr. Millar was born at East Brookfield, Massachusetts, U.S.A. and moved to Almonte as an infant. He received his education at the public and high schools in Almonte and Business School in Carleton Place. In 1944, Mr. Millar joined the army at the age of 18 and served for 18 months, being discharged in 1946. He trained as a Morse code operator and obtained employment with the CPR as an operator-agent in 1947 and remained there for 19 years. After that, he went to work for the provincial government's Environment Protection Section. He retired in 1989 after 16 years of employment. For 15 years, he was the co-owner of K's Flower Gallery in Almonte and Carleton Place. In 1953, Mr. Millar joined the Masonic Lodge where he held many offices and was highly regarded by his peers. He was also a member of the Shriners. He joined the Almonte Legion in 1946 and over the years was an active and devoted member. He was also a member of the Almonte Curling Club and enjoyed curling with the seniors. On March 5, 1949 Mr. Millar married Kay Sinnett. They had two daughters and a son – Kathy (Mrs. Ken Hannam) of Ottawa. Karen (Mrs. Joe Bisceglia) of Cranbrook) British Columbia and Kim (Debbie) of Pakenham. He was very devoted to his grandchildren – Travis, Angela, Erica, Nathan, Amedeo, Jessica and Ashley. Mr. Millar is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, brother Des of Guelph, and sisters Hazel Agostini of Toronto and Marian Kennedy of Ottawa. He was predeceased by his brother Len. The funeral was held at the Kerry Funeral Home Oct. 9. Rev. Harry Brown officiated. Interment at Auld Kirk Cemetery. Mr. Millar's pallbearers were grandson Travis Millar and nephews Richard and Brent Heddleston, Robert and Stephen Kennedy and Glen Millar.
