Description	:	Delores Eleanor Schoon was born March 17, 1924, in Palmer, Iowa. She was the daughter of Andrew and Ann (Poppinga) Schoon. She was educated at Lincoln #8 country school and graduated from Palmer High School in 1942. On June 20, 1948, Delores married George Beekmann in Palmer. The couple settled near Pocahontas where they farmed. In 1979, they moved into Pocahontas. Dee worked for many years at the Residential Care Center and as a receptionist at Powers Funeral Home. George passed away in 1986 and Delores continued to make her home in Pocahontas. Dee was a member of the St.... Read More	Delores Eleanor Schoon was born March 17, 1924, in Palmer, Iowa. She was the daughter of Andrew and Ann (Poppinga) Schoon. She was educated at Lincoln #8 country school and graduated from Palmer High School in 1942. On June 20, 1948, Delores married George Beekmann in Palmer. The couple settled near Pocahontas where they farmed. In 1979, they moved into Pocahontas. Dee worked for many years at the Residential Care Center and as a receptionist at Powers Funeral Home. George passed away in 1986 and Delores continued to make her home in Pocahontas. Dee was a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church where she served as head greeter for 15 years. She was a member of the Esther Circle, Palmer AmVets Auxiliary and the Poky Pals card club. Dee enjoyed playing cards, baking, sewing and embroidery work. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her daughters, DeAnn (John) Kultala of Keokuk; Jodi (Curtis) Rouse of Des Moines; and Sherri Schoofs of Emmetsburg; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and brother-in-law, Darold (Marlene) Beekmann of Minneapolis, MN. Dee was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; sisters, Marilyn Peterson and Bernice Beekmann; brothers, Emroy in infancy and Delmar Schoon; grandson, Travis Fischer; and son-in-law, Joe Schoofs.
