Dennis was born Sept. 17, 1946, in Clarinda, the son of Bernard and Irma Laverne (Johnson) Scott. He graduated from Villisca High School in 1965 and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Read More	Dennis Orval Scott, 69, Elliott, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Dennis was born Sept. 17, 1946, in Clarinda, the son of Bernard and Irma Laverne (Johnson) Scott. He graduated from Villisca High School in 1965 and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He married Norma Wilson Dec. 20, 1970, in Villisca, and they had two daughters, Denise and Becky. Dennis joined the Iowa National Guard after he was discharged from active duty in 1973. He served with units in Villisca, Creston and Des Moines before retiring in 2006. Dennis married Cindy Askey Aug. 4, 1990. Over the years, he worked for Union Carbide/Eveready, Pel Gas, the hospital, and drove a truck over the road until 2008. He was a longtime member of both the American Legion and the VFW in Villisca. His hobbies included NASCAR Racing, gardening, tending to his flowers and spending time with the grandkids, and he was a faithful Dallas Cowboys fan. Preceding him in death was his father. Survivors include his wife, Cindy Scott, Elliott; children, Denise Branan and husband Tony, Villisca; Becky Scott, Vacaville, Calif.; Melissa Dickson and husband David, Shenandoah and Kyle Docker and wife Melinda, Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo.; grandchildren, Casey Branan and wife Alex, Council Bluffs; Christian Branan, Villisca; Aaron Newton and Pruett Newton, Omaha and Kaden, Kaleb, Kingston and Morgan Docker, Ft. Leonard Wood; great-granddaughter, Natalie Branan, Council Bluffs; mother, Irma Laverne Meggison, Shenandoah; sisters, Kathy Racine and husband Randy, New Market; Doris Blum, Imperial Beach, Calif.; Kay Cole, Afton and Diana Freshourm, Villisca; brother, Doug Scott, Villisca; brothers-in-law, Randy Askey and Rick Askey, Red Oak; and many other relatives and friends. There was a celebration of life service Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
