Description	:	Derald E. Evers (1935 - 2001) Derald E. Evers was born at Denison, Iowa, October 25, 1935, the son of Edward Johann and Hertha Adele Maria Thomsen Evers. He was received into God's Kingdom of Grace through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison April 24, 1936 and confirmed in his Christian Faith there April 2, 1950. Read More	Derald E. Evers (1935 - 2001) Derald E. Evers was born at Denison, Iowa, October 25, 1935, the son of Edward Johann and Hertha Adele Maria Thomsen Evers. He was received into God's Kingdom of Grace through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison April 24, 1936 and confirmed in his Christian Faith there April 2, 1950. He was raised on the family farm west of Denison and was graduated from the Denison High School with the Class of 1953. Following high school he fanned with his father. On May 1, 1966, Derald was united in marriage with Patricia Behrendsen at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton, Iowa. Their union was blessed with two daughters, Karen and Sharon. They made their home briefly in Schleswig before moving to a farm near the home place where, in conjunction with farming, Derald was employed at the Jo-Mart Steak House in Denison for two years. They later moved to the Evers' family farm where he farmed all of his life. When his health permitted Derald enjoyed many things including attending auctions and sales where he collected chickens and roosters for Pat, visiting with neighbors, playing cards with family and friends, fishing and tinkering outside. In September of 1998 Derald suffered a severe stroke and entered Immanuel Lutheran Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. From that time on he spent time there, various care facilities in the Omaha area and at home before entering the Dunlap Nursing and Rehab Center in Dunlap, Iowa on August 17, 1999. It was there that his death occurred Friday evening, April 13, 2001. At the time of his death he had attained the age of 65 years, 5 months and 18 days. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Including his parents, Derald was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Kay Evers, October 1, 1979. Those who remain to cherish his memory include his wife, Patricia of Denison, daughter, Karen Evers of Denison, three sisters, Darlene Vogt of Charter Oak, Iowa, Norma and husband, Alfred Schoenfeld of Schleswig and Ardell and husband, Henry Ewoldt of Kiron, Iowa, Father-in-law, Charles Behrendsen of Mapleton, Iowa, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 17, 2001 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison with the Rev. Kurt R. Kaiser and the Rev. David M. Sewing officiating. Music for the service included the congregation singing "Jesus Lives!", "The Victory's Won", "Rock Of Ages, Cleft For Me" and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" with Karen Kahl serving as organist. Casket bearers were Clark Martens, H. Dennis Bergstadt, Delaine Listamann, Roger Reimers, Ron Reimers and Dan Grill. Interment was at Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison. The Pfannebecker Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
