Description	:	Edward J. Evers was born on a farm in Goodrich Township, Crawford County, Iowa, April 3, 1901, the son of William F. and Joachine Rahn Evers. He was received into God's Kingdom of Grace through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison and confirmed in his Christian Faith there April 16, 1916. He was raised on the farm and received his education in the rural and Zion Lutheran Schools. Following his schooling he helped on the farm. Evers was born on a farm in Goodrich Township, Crawford County, Iowa, April 3, 1901, the son of William F. and Joachine Rahn Evers. He was received into God's Kingdom of Grace through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison and confirmed in his Christian Faith there April 16, 1916. He was raised on the farm and received his education in the rural and Zion Lutheran Schools. Following his schooling he helped on the farm. On February 9, 1927, Edward was united in marriage with Hertha Adele Maria Thomsen at the Zion Parsonage in Denison. Their union was blessed with five children, Darlene, Mardella, Norma, Derald and Ardell. They made their home on the farm in Goodrich Township where they farmed and raised cattle and hogs until their retirement. In 1975 the Evers' moved to Denison. Hertha died December 1, 1990, and Edward continued to reside at their home in Denison. In earlier years, when health permitted, he enjoyed traveling, attending the Saturday sales at Denison Livestock Auction and trains. In addition of being an excellent cook he will be fondly remembered by his family as a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather and for his love of reminiscing about his life and events of his time. Since August 9, 1999 Edward made his home at Denison Care Center in Denison and it was there his death occurred Monday, January 10, 2000. At the time of his death he had attained the age of 98 years, 9 months and 7 days. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Including his parents and his wife, Hertha, Edward was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Mardella Ann Evers, one granddaughter, Sharon K. Evers, one brother, William C. Evers and one sister, Rose Denker. Those who remain to cherish his memory include four children and their spouses, Darlene and Ralph Vogt of Charter Oak, Iowa, Norma and Alfred Schoenfeld of, Schleswig, Iowa, Derald and Pat Evers of Denison, and Ardell and Henry Ewoldt of Kiron, Iowa, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews,"and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, January 13, 2000 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison with the Rev. Kurt R. Kaiser officiating. Music for the service was provided by Larry Boeck singing "How Great Thou Art" and "On Eagles Wings" and the congregation singing "I'm But A Stranger Here". Karen Kahl served as organist. Edward's pallbearers were his grandchildren, Dean Vogt, Burdette Vogt, Terry Vogt, Kevin Vogt, Lydell Schoenfeld, Calise Thygesen, Leon Schoenfeld, Karen Evers, Mark Ewoldt and Dale Ewoldt.
