Description	:	Hertha Adele Maria Evers was born on a farm in Goodrich Township, Crawford County, Iowa, Feb. 19, 1905, the daughter of Andrew A. and Margaretha Albertsen Thomsen. She was raised on farms in Goodrich and Denison Townships receiving her education in the rural and Denison schools. Read More	Hertha Adele Maria Evers was born on a farm in Goodrich Township, Crawford County, Iowa, Feb. 19, 1905, the daughter of Andrew A. and Margaretha Albertsen Thomsen. She was raised on farms in Goodrich and Denison Townships receiving her education in the rural and Denison schools. She was baptized at the Center School in Goodrich Township and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, May 21, 1921. On Feb. 9, 1927, Hertha was united in marriage with Edward J. Evers at the Zion Lutheran Parsonage in Denison. They made their home on a farm in Goodrich Township where they farmed until retiring. In 1975, the Evers moved to Denison. Since June 15, 1987, Hertha had resided at the Denison Care Center and it was there that her death occurred Saturday morning, Dec. 1, 1990. At the time of her death she had attained the age of 85 years, nine months and 12 days. Throughout her adult life, Hertha enjoyed doing fancy work, crocheting, cooking, and belonging to card clubs. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Including her parents, Hertha was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Mardella Ann Evers; one granddaughter, Sharon K. Evers; one brother, Andrew Thomsen; and three sisters, Sophia Ransom, Magdeline Signall and Christine Thomsen, who died in infancy. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Edward J. Evers of Denison; four children and their spouses: Darlene and Ralph Vogt of Charter Oak, Norma and Alfred Schoenfeld of Schleswig, Derald and Pat Evers of Denison and Ardell and Henry Ewoldt of Deloit; 10 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one sister, Pauline Denker of Denison; one sister-in-law, Ella Thomsen of Denison and one brother-in-law, William Evers of Denison; also nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison with the Rev. Kurt R. Kaiser and the Rev. Philip E. Bloch officiating. Vocal selections included "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art" rendered by Henry Henningsen. The congregation sang "I'm But A Stranger Here" with Karen Kahl serving as organist. The pallbearers were Hertha's 10 grandchildren: Dean Vogt, Burdette Vogt, Terry Vogt, Kevin Vogt, Lydell Schoenfeld, Calise Thygesen, Leon Schoenfeld, Karen Evers, Mark Ewoldt and Dale Ewoldt. Interment was in the Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison. The Pfannebecker Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of the arrangements.
