Mo., the son of Charles and Matilda McFall Merry. As a child he and his family came to Buena Vista County and settled in Sioux Rapids. He attended school here and grew to manhood here. He worked in road construction and maintenance most of his active life, helping to build the famous Alcan Highway during World War II, later he worked as an employee for the Buena Vista County Highway Department until his retirement. He... Read More	Additional information provided by Geo Clinton Additional information provided by Rich Robinson Dewey Merry was born Nov 22. 1898 in Worth County near Grant City. Mo., the son of Charles and Matilda McFall Merry. As a child he and his family came to Buena Vista County and settled in Sioux Rapids. He attended school here and grew to manhood here. He worked in road construction and maintenance most of his active life, helping to build the famous Alcan Highway during World War II, later he worked as an employee for the Buena Vista County Highway Department until his retirement. He was married to Lyda Jenkins of Lamona. To this union was born a daughter, Virginia. The family later separted and were divorced. He later married Hazel Butler. To this union were born two daughters, June and Evelyn. This family later were separated and divorced in the 50's. Dewey had made his home at the Methodist Manor in Storm Lake since Nov 22, 1972. Due to failing health he entered Buena Vista County Hospital in Storm Lake and it was here that he passed away on Monday, July 14, 1980 at the age of 81 years, seven months and 22 days. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. He is survived by a sister, Cora (Mrs. Bob Ensley), Tuscon, Ariz.. and two daughters, Mrs June Reeno, Onalaska. Wisc. and Mrs .Evelyn Andrew, Seattle, Wash., four grand children and a host of other relatives and friends.
